A rare clear quart embossed with a pictorial figure of a fruit jar which itself is embossed: "KNOWLTON PATENT MAY 1903 TRADE MARK" and further encircled by: "MANSFIELD GLASS WORKS SOLE MFRS". A highly appealing jar that has very rarely turned up for sale. Has a smile-shaped crack on the neck in back, but this will never be seen on display. Correct glass insert, which has been secured with a replaced screw band. Appears to have been used for home canning with this arrangement. Shiny glass is chock full of tiny seed bubbles. Base: unmarked.
