Size: QUART
Color: DEEP GREEN
Closure: applied ring collar mouth made for a cork stopper to be sealed with wax
Appearance: shiny glass
Condition: no damage, small manufacturer's under-fill in the lip
Embossing: n/a
Base: a very oversized iron pontil scar
Age: 1850's
Availability: Scarce and a beautiful example of this primitive early jar. This jar has been in the collection of the consignor since she purchased a pair of them at an Ohio auction in 1974. We auctioned the other one last fall. See photo for old newspaper article mentioning the jars at auction.
